One Last Word about the Alcan Highway

For those of you that haven't driven the Alaskan Highway through Canada,
here's some last words!!

Winding In and Winding Out

Fills my mind with serious doubt

if the man who built this road

was going to hell or coming out.

Final Travel days!

As we finished up our next to last leg of the trip, here comes the gorgeous scenery again, this whole trip has been truely beautiful for the eyes!

Here it is FINALLY!!! WELCOME TO ALASKA!!!!

Stayed the night in a mudhole of a campground (due to the snow melt, and permafrost not melting yet!) and drove the rest of the way to North Pole, AK the next day.

Santa’s House
fBeore we made it down to Healy, we stopped in Pam’s old stomping grounds of Eilson AFB, in the town of North Pole, AK. Yes my dears, there is a Santa Claus and he lives here in his own house with his reindeer of course!

Santa’s Reindeer. (Rudolf was away for the week in warmer climates!)

Home for the next 4 months!!!

We drove from North Pole to Healy in about 3-4 hours, and arrived early afternoon to a sunny beautiful day! Got the rigs set up and sat down for socializing with other workers and having adult beverages!

There are 3 rigs of workampers along with the managers who live in one of the train cars. There will also be 5-6 young ladies from Russia and Bulgaria arriving to do housekeeping (they'll stay in the dorms) in the next couple of days.

Below: Meet Chewbacca (Chewy) a 9 y/o Golden Retriever, who is the proud owner of several tennis balls, footballs, and what ever sticks he happens to like!! (He belongs to one of the workampers and loves to chase his toys when you throw them!)

Sights around the hotel:

and finally, we drove down 70 miles or so to see if Mt McKinley once we had been here for a day or so!
