Sorry we haven't been posting lately, we have been very busy since getting to Alaska. I will try to get some pictures up soon but for now just a few words on what's happening.
We got here on the 5th of May and have been working since about the 10th. The managers that were here when we arrived have left and the owners decided to make Pam and I the new managers. Here's a first, managing a motel. Since the other couple that is here are friends of ours and traveled here with us, we all know about the same about the business so we can all make the same mistakes. I will say it has been interesting so far. We are still managing to get our 4 days on and 4 days off schedule, we just aren't leaving the area but once or twice a month is the only difference. The work isn't much different other than I have to run the maintenance person and make sure certain things that I would not have been involved in are done. Anyway, more $$'s and responsibility. Pam is the one with real work load but she was going to have to do that part anyway as the previous managers were not "getting it" when it came to the paperwork involved in running a motel.
We have been to Anchorage but just for a day and didn't really "see" much. We had a trip planned to go to the Arctic Ocean but after finding hotel rooms (bare twin bed rooms) for $235 a night, we have decided that we could spend $800 to $1000 on other things much better. Like a trip to the Kenai and fishing or a new "gold" finder, or a new Digital SLR, or just pay some bills now and worry about those other things later. We are still going to go to the Arctic Circle just not as far as the ocean since that is just a "day" trip from Fairbanks.
So, all and all things are going good, my hand has gotten better although it is scarred pretty badly. My health is good, I've cutting back on the adult beverages and have started loosing some weight again, damn that's a hard one too... I gave up politics, and discussing religion, and s.. and now adult beverages too... just put me in the ground...
I promise, pictures to follow, we still haven't gotten into the park to get pictures of the bears and such, as soon as we do, I'll make sure they get posted

Your not ready for the ground as long as you can fish. Make some good notes on where the guide takes you. David, John and myself really want to catch some fish. Jan is going pan for gold while we fish. Don't work too hard and have fun.......
Thanks Nell, I was trying to think how to encourage Rick. Politics, Religion, S..., but adult beverages?, I was worried about him. Fishing is the ANSWER! Go Rick!
